Olivia Pope on ABCs Scandal has a stressful job, a dysfunctional family and a complicated personal life. When the stress of leading the Gladiators gets to be too much, she likes to unwind with a glass of red wine. Now you too can Drink Wine Like Olivia Pope by using the tips below from Laurie Forster, The Wine Coach on using the right wine glasses, filling it with Olivia approved reds and even having the right snacks on hand.

Olivia Pope always dresses the part and her wine glasses are no exception. Accessorize your new wines with the special red wine glasses Olivia uses and that every wine lover should own. Pick up a few Camille 23 oz Red Wine Glasses available at Crate & Barrel for $14.95 each to sip from the same stems as Olivia does on the show. Although these glasses can almost fit an entire bottle of wine, they are meant to be filled with only 4 or so ounces at a clip so the wine can properly breathe.
On Scandal, Olivia is often seen enjoying a glass (or three) of red wine after a hard day in our nation’s capital. Although the ’94 Dubbonet that Olivia raved about in the season opener doesn’t really exist, Laurie suggests 3 affordable red Bordeaux that taste like they can even save anyone’s presidency–even President Grant’s.
Chateau Trebiac Graves 2010, Graves $16.19 (Left Bank)
Looking for great Bordeaux value? This red Graves is made from 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Red fruit aromas are accented by a combination of dark chocolate and toastiness that are as intoxicating as escaping to a deserted island with Jake aka Scott Foley.
Chateau de Francs 2006, Cotes de Francs $17.99 (Right Bank)
A lesser known appellation on the right bank Cotes de Francs has similar soil to St Emilion with a lower price tag. This right bank Bordeaux has 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that give this wine the right blend of soft velvety texture with an edge—just like Olivia Pope.
Chateau Moulin Lagnet 2011 Saint Emilion $25.19 (Right Bank)
A classic red from Saint Emilion has 80% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Certified organic this medium bodied wine has aromas of black fruit, mint and a touch of earthiness making this wine as complex as President Grant and Olivia Pope’s relationship.
What to snack on as you watch Olivia and the Gladiators fix Washington? Try pairing your red wines with some yummy Truffled Popcorn just like Olivia did in Season 3. This easy to make snack adds a gourmet flair to your popcorn with just a few additions. Recipe for Truffled Popcorn at our sister site: www.HeCooksSheWines.com
